Ask the right question
The answer depends on the boat’s flag, size, use and the person operating it. Private leisure use and paid tuition, delivery or skippering need separate checks.
Do not assume an ICC answers everything
Have the insurer and appropriate maritime authority confirm what documentation is required for the specific boat and activity. Recognition for one purpose does not establish commercial operating rights.
Use current official information
Consult Spain’s Dirección General de la Marina Mercante or the relevant Capitanía Marítima, and your qualification issuer. Keep written confirmation with the boat’s records.
Our service position
Our existing UK and Irish experience informs the Spain guides. Spanish certified training and paid on-water services will only be advertised as available once the relevant position is confirmed.
