Steve Frankland has spent his working life around boats, from small pleasure craft to luxury motor yachts and superyachts. His experience includes buying and selling boats, marine surveying, skippering and teaching people how to handle their own vessels safely and confidently.
Having worked with virtually every type of boat over the years, Steve brings a wealth of real-world experience and practical knowledge to Maritime Expert.
Experience beyond training
In 2000, Steve founded Boatbreakers, one of the UK’s first specialist boat recycling businesses. He later established BuyAnyBoat, purchasing and trading used boats throughout the UK and Ireland. His work in the marine industry also led to four seasons appearing on the television series Scrap Kings.
Over the years, Steve has inspected, valued, bought, sold and handled thousands of boats, gaining an understanding of what makes a good boat, what makes a bad one and what owners need to know before making decisions.
It’s this depth of experience that Steve brings to Maritime Expert, offering straightforward, independent advice backed by a lifetime in the industry.
Professional Qualifications and Experience
Steve’s background as a Master Mariner is supported by Yachtmaster Ocean qualifications, Powerboat and Motorboat Instructor credentials, and previous experience as a marine surveyor.
His career has taken him from small leisure boats to large motor yachts and superyachts, giving him extensive experience in seamanship, navigation, vessel handling and the wider marine industry.
Through Maritime Expert, Steve offers professional skipper services, boat delivery, personalised training, vessel handovers and independent assistance with buying or commissioning a boat.
