Frequently Asked Questions

Boat Delivery Questions

Here you will find answers to the most commonly asked questions about our Boat Delivery Service. If you have a question that isn’t answered below, please get in contact with us.

  • Who pays for fuel, moorings, locks and pilotage?

These are billed at cost (or included if pre‑agreed). We keep receipts and provide an itemised statement at handover.

  • What updates will I receive?

Leg‑by‑leg progress with ETAs plus photo confirmation at departure and arrival.

  • What size/condition limits apply?

Boats must be seaworthy with functioning propulsion, steering, nav lights and safety kit. Practical limits depend on LOA, draft/air‑draft and route constraints.

  • What if weather causes delays?

Safety first: we plan weather windows and may pause during adverse conditions, keeping you updated with revised ETAs.

  • What do you need before departure?

Keys, documents (registration/insurance), defect list, fuel level, spare lines/fenders, and any marina/lock permissions. Remove valuables and secure loose items.

  • What affects the price?

LOA, draft/air‑draft limits, route complexity, locks and logistics, season, crew needs, and any overnighting.

  • Is my boat insured during delivery?

We carry skipper liability and can arrange transit cover if needed. Please confirm your hull policy covers delivery passages and add us as authorised operators for the dates.

  • How far in advanced should I book?

2-4 weeks is ideal for planning and weather windows, but we can often accommodate sooner.

  • Do you deliver on inland waterways and at sea?

Yes—our skippers operate on Irish inland waterways and coastal routes across Ireland & the UK.

  • Can I (or a friend) travel on board?

Usually yes, if berths are available and insurance terms allow. Ride‑alongs must complete a safety brief and follow skipper instructions.
